PhD proposal quantify the impacts of forest cover changes (deforestation and afforestation) on the climate of temperate regions

The CNRM laboratory from Météo-France is looking for highly motivated Ph.D. candidates to quantify the impacts of forest cover changes (deforestation and afforestation) on the climate of temperate regions using 40 years of satellite observations.

The Ph.D. fellowship is already available and will cover the 3 years that are needed to be awarded with the doctoral degree. The CNRM is located in the vibrant city of Toulouse, in the south of France.

PhD and Post-Doc positions on “Machine learning methods for analyzing biospheric change”

Applications  are invited for a four-year PhD student position and a three-year Postdoc position in a research project on “Machine learning methods for analyzing biospheric change” lead by Prof. Indrė Žliobaitė, funded by the Academy of Finland. The positions are at the Departement of Computer Science, University of Helsinki.

  • Requirements for PhD candidates : track record in carrying out data analysis/ computational method development, demonstrated by a completed master thesis, internship or own project.
  • Requirements for Postdoc candidates : experience in machine learning with remote sensing data.
