Resumption of CNES THEIA CDS Production
The CDS THEIA Team at CNES is pleased to announce the resumption of value-added product production starting December 12, 2024, on its new production center.
This production resumption, effective from September 25, 2024, applies to all processing chains that were temporarily halted. This includes the production of surface reflectances (2A) from the MAJA chain and all downstream products (levels 2B and 3) from the LIS, WASP, and SURFWATER chains for the Sentinel-2 mission. The resumption incorporates new versions of processing chains that bring improvements to the products. Notably, the MAJA chain now integrates a 30-meter DEM and has lowered its cloud detection threshold to 120 meters.
Visualization of the expanded geographic areas processed by the MAJA chain for Sentinel-2 in the new HESPERIDES production center: in red, the previous scope handled by the MUSCATE Center; in yellow, the areas newly added in the first phase.
Below is the configuration of the MAJA chain for the resumption of production :
Parameter/Config/Auxiliary | MAJA |
---|---|
Production Center | HESPERIDES |
Version | 4.9 |
DEM | Copernicus DEM 30 meters “COP-DEM_GLO-30-DGED Version 2023_1” |
Cirrus Correction | YES |
CAMS Data Utilization | YES, version 49r1 |
Max Cloud Percentage | 90 (above which L2A is not computed) |
Max No-Data Percentage | 99 |
Cloud Detection Resolution | 120 m |
Production had been halted since September 25, 2024, due to infrastructure upgrades and changes to CAMS data from ECMWF, as documented in Theia’s news update in early November : Theia production halted due to ECMWF infrastructure and CAMS data updates.
IN BRIEF:
- Resumption of production for all value-added products from CDS THEIA at CNES.
- Production restarts from 09/25/2024 to catch up on the missing period.
- Deployment of new processing chain versions, introducing product improvements, especially for the MAJA, LIS, and SURFWATER chains.
- Production and dissemination are now carried out on THEIA’s new infrastructures (HESPERIDES Production Center and GEODES Distribution Portal).
The THEIA team thanks you for your patience and remains available to assist with any issues related to these changes.
Special thanks to all technical and project team members for their efforts in resuming production on these new resources.
