Daily surface soil moisture (m3/m3) from AMSR-E Brightness temperatures retrieved by neural network. The neural network is trained with SMOS Soil Moisture sources :

  • AMSR-E TB (V&H, descending orbit)at C-band  (6.9 GHz)
  • AMSR-E TB (V)at Ka-band  (36.5 GHz)to calculate Teff

Teff = 0.893 * Tb36.5V + 44.8

  • SMOSL3 SM (ascending orbit)

Resolutions : 25-2 km

Observation capability : double global coverage every 3 days

Level

Level 2: single orbit and date product in swath form. Soil moisture. 

Level 3: product obtained by merging several level 2 products over any given period so has to have one global product for a given period of time.
